CONSERVATION IN ACTION :

Mundo Azul & Humane Society International:

Project: “Dolphin Conservation in Peru” is being implemented by Mundo Azul and the Humane Society International. As part of the initiative, a conference was recently held in Peru called “Whale and Dolphin Watching: An Opportunity for Sustainable Coastal Development and Conservation”. Part of the project is supported by funding from the US-State Department within the framework of the Free Trade negotiations Peru-US and was also co-funded in the first phase by the Peruvian Tourism Board PromPeru.

Main goals of the project:

1. Strengthen the implementation of laws for the conservation of cetaceans in Peru.
2. Promoting dolphin and whale watching as an economic alternative for artisan fishermen and an opportunity for sustainable economic development along the Peruvian coast.
